Programme Highlight
The first commercially successful case of utilizing landfill gas in
Combined Heating and Power System (CHP) for a distributed energy system at Tai
Po AHML Nethersole Hospital was developed by the Hospital Authority and The
Hong Kong and China Gas Co. Ltd.
The system generates electricity by landfill gas and recovers the
waste heat from flue exhaust and jacket cooling water for steam and hot water
generation. The overall system
efficiency is above 80%. Such project has set an excellent example of smart
usage of CHP system, the advantage of distributed energy system and social
engagement on sustainability.
A technical visit to the CHP would be arranged. Participants would
have the chance to take a close look at the system design and associated
facilities.
