Programme Highlight
The Black Point
Power Station (Chinese: 龍鼓灘發電廠, BPPS) is the first gas fired power station in Hong Kong. Commissioned
by CLP Power HK in 1996, it consists of 8 x 312.5 MW dual fuel (natural gas and
ultra-low Sulphur diesel) combined cycle gas turbine units, giving a total
generating capacity of 2,500 MW.
The power station has launched a
project to upgrade its generating units in 2015, each of the generating unit
will have additional output of 25 MW with improved efficiency and emission
performance at the same time, after completion of the project. Construction of
a state-of-the-art H Class new combined cycle gas turbine unit is also
underway. It is a project to support Government’s initiative to achieve about
50% gas generation in Hong Kong in 2020.
The visit
includes a guided tour to the Viewing Gallery in Black Point Power Station, and
an overview of the construction site of the new CCGT unit. Transportation will
be provided.
