Technical Visit to High Speed Rail Power Supply System in Shek Kong

 Programme Highlight

Hong Kong Section of High Speed Rail (HSR) was opened for revenue operations since 23 September 2018. The power supply system for HSR Hong Kong Section comprises 25kV a.c. Traction Power Supply, Overhead Line system, Protection & Metering devices, Main Control System, Earth Bonding and Traction Return system, etc.

 

Electrical power for traction loads in HSR is obtained from 25kV infeed sources of the CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLPP). Incoming power supply from CLP are fed via 132kV/25kV single-phase power transformers located at Mong Kok West Feeder Sub-station and Shek Kong Feeder Sub-station. The railway overhead line (OHL) system, in conjunction with 25kV a.c. system, provides necessary traction power to high-speed trains running along the 26km Hong Kong Section.

 

In the visit, vistors will be led to tour around:-

-              Shek Kong Feeder Sub-station to appreciate HSR power system apparatus,

-              Train maintenance and depot area to appreciate the traction supply arrangement to high-speed train via OHL system

-              Shek Kong Operations Control Centre to appreciate normal HSR operations via remote monitoring and control system.

 

Remark: Visitors are required to bring safety helmet and wear safety shoes during the visit.

The number of participants is limited to 25. Applications will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis, with priority given to HKIE – Gas and Energy members. CPD certificates will be provided. Please register via the following link:
