Event Highlight
Innovation has driven the creating, renewing and changing products, processes, services, technologies and business models in many industries. This seminar will captivate you with a few innovative applications in gas engineering by demonstrating how a collation of knowledge, experience and ideas can be transformed into improved operational practices and services. Undoubtedly, human resources and talents play a critical role in the gas industry’s innovation process. The seminar will also explain in detail the routes to acquire professional qualification in gas engineering, primarily focusing on membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) under Gas or Energy Discipline and the chartered member of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM), while unveiling some useful tips for the application.

About the Speaker
Ir Peter Chak Chi Kin graduated from the University of Hong Kong with an honour degree in Industrial Engineering. He also obtained a master degree in Business Administration from the University of Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and a Fellow of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) in UK, and is also a Chartered Engineer. In the past, he served as Chairman of IGEM Far East District Section, Council Member of HKIE, Chairman of Manufacturing & Industrial (MI*) Discipline Advisory Panel, Chairman of Gas & Energy Division as well as Chairman of MI* Division of HKIE. He is currently the Hon Secretary of Gas Discipline Advisory Panel and a committee member of the Energy Discipline Advisory Panel of HKIE. He also serves in a few government or external boards/committees such as a member of the Gas Safety Ordinance Appeal Board Panel and a member of the Engineering Discipline Advisory Board of VTC, etc.

Ir Peter Chak joined the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited in 1982, and had been engaged in a wide array of functions covering gas installation projects design and installation, gas pipes, appliances and systems installation, customer service maintenance (residential, commercial & industrial), regular safety inspection, customer service hotline, new product development, project planning and implementation, business development, strategic planning, market planning, research and promotion etc. He is now the Vice Principal of the Towngas Engineering Academy.

*Now renamed as Manufacturing, Industrial and Systems
