Programme Highlight
HKIE Gas and Energy, Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture and Chemical Division (MMNC) and Environmental Division will jointly organise a webinar, entitled, “Path to decarbonisation, is it an achievable target by 2050?”.
This seminar will give an overview on the decarbonization and development of wind farm projects in both Hong Kong and PRC based on CLP’s experience. Two case studies including challenges encountered during the construction phase will be shared.
Mr. Joe Lo (Senior Strategic Planner) will deliver the topic on “CLP Decarbonization Roadmap and Hong Kong Offshore Wind Farm Project (HKOWF)” and Mr. John Ching (Designated Planning, Construction and Cost Control Engineer) will share the “Qian’an wind farm project in PRC”.
Speakers
The first speaker, Mr. Joe Lo has been working in CLP Power (Hong Kong) Limited (CLPP) for over 10 years. He is currently the Senior Strategic Planner in Planning and Development Business Group. Prior to serving as the Senior Strategic Planner, he was the Digital & Technology Support Manager responsible for the overall management of projects developments for innovation projects, energy saving programmes, and energy saving rewards platform in CLPP.
The second speaker, Mr. John Ching has extensive experience in the maintenance and upgrade of Combined Cycle Gas Turbines as an engineer at the Black Point Power station. He is also involved in projects relating to decarbonization and hydrogen retrofitting of power generators.
He has recently completed the Qian'an III wind project in Mainland China in Dec 2021 under the role of Designated Planning, Construction and Cost Control Engineer.
