Programme Highlight

The modern requirements for Machine Learning computation in datacenters, discussing the challenges we faced when deploying one of the highest density technology for datacenters in Hong Kong.

The world is currently in a digital age, where data is constantly collected, stored, and analyzed with the purpose of using it as a tool for improvements. To keep up with the usage, changes in computing and datacenters are constantly being explored and deployed. With machine learning becoming a larger topic to make use of the data mentioned above, the density of modern datacenters is becoming a growing challenge, due to “Power War” in recent years. Despite these challenges, the industry still has high expectations of the reliability and availability of such systems, in order to adapt them into standard business practices.

Last year, we introduced the application of IoT for enhancing our E&M and IT segments in a datacenter, we will continue to expand onto the topic, discussing how the higher density datacenters now see this as a necessity.

You will learn about how we managed to build onto our all-in-one datacenter solution, and designed high density datacenter solutions based off of our experience and E&M knowledge from our previous family members in the series. Our all-in-one datacenter solutions consists of all necessary equipment of a standard datacenter in a single lockable rack, under high density conditions, we will introduce why this is one of the greenest solutions available on the market.

We will also present a case highlight where we implemented the discussed technologies for a local university with photos for loading test. We will also showcase the IoT technologies used to monitor and manage the datacenter using our latest DCIM software.

Speaker

1. Mr. Jonathan Sum, Consultant, DCL Communication Limited Jonathan has over 7 years’ experience working as an engineering consultant in IT and E & M infrastructure projects, especially for Data Center/ Server Room projects. Experienced with high density server rack technology, as well as resilience configuration for critical facilities.

2. Mr. Eric Wong, Senior Consultant, DCL Communication Limited Eric has over 25 years data center design and construction experience. Eric is well‐known for his expertise in electrical, mechanical design and implementation related service, data center and virtualized  IT  Infrastructure  implementation  as well  as  different  types  of  data  center integration solutions. Eric has taken part in multiple datacenter deployments related to the infrastructure of our city’s operations.

3. Mr. Marcus Chui, System Architect, DCL Communication Limited Marcus has taken part in DCL’s R&D during our all-in-one datacenter development, assist our consultants in building understanding towards the challenges we faced. With a good understanding of enterprise networks and a computing background, he harnesses the E&M knowledge from consultant team and design the best datacenter monitoring and management solutions for clients.
