Programme Highlight
The Black Point Power Station (Chinese: 龍鼓灘發電廠, BPPS) is the first gas fired power station in Hong Kong. Commissioned by CLP Power HK in 1996, it consists of 8 x 312.5 MW dual fuel (natural gas and ultra-low Sulphur diesel) combined cycle gas turbine units, giving a total generating capacity of 2,500 MW.

The power station has launched a project to upgrade its generating units in 2015, each of the generating unit will have additional output of 25 MW with improved efficiency and emission performance at the same time, after completion of the project. Construction of a state-of-the-art H Class new combined cycle gas turbine unit is also underway. It is a project to support Government’s initiative to achieve about 50% gas generation in Hong Kong in 2020.
