Programme Highlight

Published in 2021, the Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050 (CAP 2050) outlined the overall strategies, plans, targets and actions for Hong Kong to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050. The vision of "Zero-carbon Emissions‧Liveable City‧ Sustainable Development" was set together with the targets for reducing the electricity consumption of commercial buildings by 30 per cent to 40 per cent and that of residential buildings by 20 per cent to 30 per cent from the 2015 level by 2050, and achieving half of the above targets by 2035. To this end, the latest Building Energy Code (BEC) 2021 and Energy Audit Code (EAC) 2021 were gazetted on 31 December 2021 to enhance the energy efficiency of buildings services installations and promote decarbonisation of buildings. Together with different Energy Efficiency & Conservation (EE&C) initiatives, the Government, the private sector and the general public must work hand-in-hand and take proactive action together as we embark on Hong Kong’s deep decarbonization journey. This seminar will give an overview on the latest development of the BEC 2021 and EAC 2021 and the EE&C of EMSD under the Climate Action Plan 2050.
